All the things that I tell myself will happen usually don’t end up happening. I’m referring to all the things that I worry about, complain or get worked up about. I’m not saying that these things are not important, they sure are to me but what I have discovered in all my 26 years (although most days I feel 17 and have absolutely no idea what I’m doing) is that there will always be things to worry about. What I don’t weigh up at the same time is that there are also countless things that I can be totally, absolutely and wonderfully grateful about. When you put these side by side, and actually start to weigh up the pros and cons of both, you do see the scales tipping…. and not in the way you think. The scales will tip and they will tip towards gratitude, and although there are still tons of things to worry about, you’ll be too busy being grateful.
“Be true to yourself, help others, make each day your masterpiece, make friendship a fine art, drink deeply from good books – especially the Bible, build a shelter against a rainy day, give thanks for your blessings and pray for guidance every day.” John Wooden
Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever! Psalm 118:29
